Jamie High spent 20 years in nonprofit finance watching dignity get stripped away with every form filled out and every line stood in. In 2021, she decided to do something different: walk up to a person, hand them a gift card, and say, you matter. TAFAB grew from that moment.

Ending homelessness in the Washington Metropolitan area, one family at a time.
We strive to end homelessness in the Washington Metropolitan area by empowering individuals and families, including veterans and families with children, to achieve stability and self-sufficiency. Our goal is to help them become productive, thriving citizens with assets and the ability to contribute to the society and community where they call home.

A Washington DC where every family has a safe, stable home and the dignity to build a future.
We envision a Washington Metropolitan area where homelessness is rare, brief, and non-recurring. Where every person, regardless of background or circumstance, can access the support they need to rebuild their life. Where faith-driven communities and businesses stand together as neighbors, not bystanders, in the fight for human dignity.
OUR FOUNDING STORY
From a Calling to a Community
Jamie High did not set out to start a nonprofit. She set out to do something her faith had long demanded: stop walking past people sleeping on the streets of Washington DC and start treating them as neighbors. After more than 20 years in nonprofit bookkeeping, she knew exactly how organizations could lose sight of people. She wanted to build one that never would.
She started simply, going to encampments, sitting with people, and handing out gift cards so that each person could choose their own food with dignity. In 2021, that calling became official. TAFAB was incorporated as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit under EIN 86-2269422, opening the door to donations, corporate partnerships, and a larger reach. Today, TAFAB runs four quarterly gift card events each year across DC, Maryland, and Virginia, and is building toward a Housing Program that will create lasting pathways out of homelessness for the families we have come to know by name.

Goal: 100 Gift Cards Distributed
With growing corporate partnerships and community
support, TAFAB is pursuing its most ambitious outreach year yet.

A gift card is not charity. It is a choice, freely given. When someone can walk into Safeway and pick out their own groceries, they are not a recipient, they are a person. That distinction is at the center of everything we do.

Matthew 25:35 is not a suggestion for us. It is a schedule. We are called to feed the hungry, welcome the stranger, and show up in person, four times a year, on the streets where our neighbors actually live.

We know the encampments in Chinatown. We know the underpass at I-395. We know the corner of 2nd and D Streets NW. We return to the same places because trust is built in person, over time, not through a program brochure.

A meal today matters deeply. So does a roof next year. The Gift Card Program feeds people now, while our developing Housing Program is building toward the permanent stability that changes a family’s story for generations.

On the corner of 2nd and D Streets NW, we sat with a veteran who had been forgotten. He had served. His country had moved on. We did not. No one who put on this nation’s uniform should spend a night unhoused on its streets.

Founder
Jamie High brings more than 20 years of nonprofit bookkeeping and financial stewardship experience to TAFAB. She founded the organization after witnessing, time and again, how profoundly a small act of dignified generosity could change a person’s trajectory. Jamie oversees all operations, donor relationships, and outreach events, while keeping the organization grounded in its founding values of faith, dignity, and accountability.
This isn’t charity, it’s about treating our neighbors as equals and walking alongside them toward stability. Every family we serve reminds me why this work matters.

I’m Jamie High, Founder & Executive Director of ‘Til All Families Are Blessed, a nonprofit serving Washington, DC and the surrounding DMV area. I’m originally from here in Washington DC and have a huge heart towards helping people. My leadership is grounded in faith, basic human decency, and a commitment to stewardship.
Jewell Diggs-Bailey Board Member
Jewell Diggs-Bailey, an original Board Member of ‘Til All Families Are Blessed, is committed to using her personal faith and professional expertise as an effective, articulate problem solver to support the mission and growth of the organization. Known for her even temper, self-deprecating wit, and realistic perspective, she believes everyone deserves to be equipped and housed for the sake of our future generations.
Jill Lassiter Board Member
Jill Lassiter is the founder of Lassiter Enterprises, LLC, a multifaceted company that provides healthcare training and Christian-inspired home décor. She retired from the U.S. Navy after 20 years of active-duty service and brings more than 40 years of experience in the healthcare field. Jill is passionate about helping people find joy in all aspects of life. She currently works as a Clinical Medical Assistant and is an adjunct instructor at a local community college.
Elvia Butler Board Member
Elvia Butler is a highly accomplished IT professional and brings over 30 years of IT support and know-how to the team. She thrives on collaborating with others, sharing technology and ideas, and guiding individuals as they uncover their unique paths to achieving professional and personal success. Supporting the vision and mission of ‘Til All Families Are Blessed for the unhoused in the DC area is truly an honor.
